~ What ~
Part of the Faithgirlz series, this one-hundred-and-forty-four-page paperback targets girls eight to twelve years old, especially those who are creative and like making things. As a collection of more than fifty projects, it comes complete with color photographs and instructions. Published by a Christian organization, it contains few religious references.

After an introduction, the book is divided into three sections: DIYs, doodles, and design, ending with an index of materials, listing what can be made from them. Covering two to six pages each, the creation begins with a descriptive title and heading; materials are listed in used order and followed by numbered directions. Often a highlighted “Jazz It Up” area is for added ideas and suggestions.

Some of the crafts include soap box prayer kit, pom-pom magnets and push pins, book page daisies, DIY counter organizer, paint chip word banner, Bible verse poster, blue jean tote bag, glitter button earrings, DIY no-slip socks, and duct tape red rose bouquet, bag, and Bible cover.

~ Why ~
This book offers many fun crafts for preteen girls who get bored easily and need stimulation or ideas for something to do. My favorite were the Altoid tin mini emergency kit, hollow book storage, how to draw a butterfly three ways, doodle a dress, shirt, and pants for paper dolls, and fabric scrap flip-flops.

Why Not ~
Girls who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may not like the references to Him throughout the pages, but they are not obtrusive. Those who are not creative may not like the activities; many of which can be found online or on YouTube.

~ Wish ~
It would be helpful if a time frame were provided for each craft.

~ Want ~
If you are looking for a book for a creative female pre-teen, this one will be enjoyed with its many different ideas.
