“Mice and pigs, chickens and cows –
Squeak, oink, cheep, and moo …
Oh, the animals God has made!
And, hey, He made me too!
Night night, God,” the story ends in Amy Parker’s children’s book, Night Night, Farm.

~ What ~
At eighteen pages, this Touch and Feel board book with shiny sections and glitter on its cover targets children ages two to five years old. With no scary scenes, it is a nice story about a farm full of animals who get ready for bedtime. Full page color illustrations of the animals are on the open pages containing a small area of fabric or finish to feel.

Written in rhyme with some complicated wording, this tale involves animals who live on a farm and go to bed. There are sheep, pigs, cows, horses, cats, chickens, and mice who make different sounds. The readers can touch the circles and feel the supposed skin or fur of the animal. The end reminds us God made the animals and us too.

~Why ~
Our one-year-old grandson loves looking at board books, especially if they contain animals. The illustrations of the animals are cute and pleasant, especially the tiny mice which are in their white pajama shirts on almost all pages.

~ Why Not ~
Those who do not like books that mention God may not approve of this book, but He is mentioned only once. Some may not like that the cows, chicken, and mice do not have fur or feathers to touch but glitter or shiny red applique instead. Some of the wording may be too hard for beginner readers.

~ Wish ~
I wish the circles of fur or skin to touch were bigger and covered every animal portrayed. Since I have the prior Night Night book from this author, I found this one not written as well as the first one, but its illustrations are charming.

~ Want ~
If you are looking for a book to read at bedtime that is about farm animals, this one will work well.
