BUTTERLY LIGHTS UP BY THE SUN
~ What ~
Made with fiber optic materials, this singular light in a butterfly shape is solar, so no batteries or electricity are required. The butterfly measures approximately 6 by 4 inches and sits on an assembled 24-inch rod with a rotatable solar platform. After being charged by the sun for 6 to 8 hours, it can run for 8 to 12 hours. Instructions are included, and little assembly is required.
~ Why ~
What I like most about this garden light is that it is solar-powered, so I do not have to think about turning it on and off daily or running any electrical wires. Another top feature that is different than other garden lights is the design of a butterfly that changes softly to 7 different colors. In testing it, I found its lighting coverage was about a foot in diameter. It was easy to assemble by putting the butterfly on top of the rod tip, flip out the platform, and add the spiked rod on the opposite end. To turn it on, there is an on-off switch underneath the platform.
~ Why Not ~
Those who live in the Pacific Northwest or where there is limited sun may not think this will light up long enough at night during the short sunny days. Some may not like the light bulb look at the top of the rod that the butterfly sits on, but the light travels through to the edges of the butterfly’s wings. Others may think it is cheap looking as the wings are made of plastic, not glass. However, it appears to be quite durable and is waterproof.
~ Wish ~
I wish the wings of the insect could be more spread out. They may be able to be, but I am afraid I may break it by pushing the wings outward.
~ Want ~
If you are looking for a butterfly that changes colors as it lights up, this solar-powered one is beautiful and would make a nice garden gift for a special person.
