“God loves Daddy and me, from morning until night …
At tuck-in time and all the time, we’re precious in His sight,”
Bonnie Rickner Jensen ends her children’s book, God Loves Daddy & Me.

~ What ~
At twenty pages, this board book with a padded front cover and rounded corners targets children ages two to five years old. With no scary scenes, it is a nice story about daddy and son raccoons. With full-color scenes on both sides of the open pages, the two animals are shown doing different activities throughout the day, reminding how God loves them and is with them always.

Written in rhyme with some complicated wording, this short tale shows the several ways God is with a father and son raccoon. Whether they are on an adventure, building a tent, taking a walk, raking leaves, playing hide and seek, roasting marshmallows, praying before bedtime, snuggling, forgiving, or saying good night, the raccoons acknowledge God loving and being with them.

~Why ~
Our three-year-old granddaughter loves being read books before she goes to sleep, and I enjoy how this one focuses on a father and son’s relationship and how God interacts with them. The pictures are engaging and fun to look at for the age group. I appreciate that God is mentioned on almost every opened page.

~ Why Not ~
Those who do not believe in God may want to avoid this book, but only mentions Him (not Jesus), and no Bible verses are included. Due to some of three syllable words, it would be best to read it out loud to beginner readers.

~ Who ~
An award-winning, best-selling author for twenty years, Jensen writes children’s books, gift books, and greeting cards. No information is available on the illustrator.

~ Wish ~
I hope a matching book for mothers and daughters will be soon.

~ Want ~
If you are looking for a bonding book about father and son raccoons and how God loves them, this will keep a young one looking at the pictures while they are reminded of the many characteristics of God.

Thanks to Book Look Bloggers for furnishing this complimentary book that I am reviewing freely.
