“Help your child get to know Jesus …” the back cover states in the children’s book, My Jesus Bible.

~ What ~
This unnumbered forty-page board book with a padded front cover and attached blue handle targets preschool-age children and older looking for a book of stories about Jesus from the Bible. Containing twenty stories rewritten from the New Testament about Christ, there are corresponding full-colored, detailed illustrations. With some frightening and scary situations, some young children should be cautioned. It would best be read out loud to beginner readers due to some of the complicated three syllable words.

Each story is spread across two open pages with a title in bold and one or two paragraphs. Stories of Jesus range from Mary being told of His birth, Anna and Simeon seeing Him, Christ’s baptism and temptation to several of His miracles, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension to name a few.

~ Why ~
Every child should learn about Jesus of the Bible, and I liked how this one covered the gambit of them. With each story being short and to the point, they promote the opportunity to discuss them further in detail. Although a complicated topic to explain to young ones, Jesus dying on the cross and rising the third day are included.

~ Why Not ~
Those who do not believe in Christ may not be interested a book of Bible stories about Him. Others may be concerned that the shortened stories do not exactly retell those in the Word of God as liberties are taken (example: there is no mention Jesus dying for our sins). Young children may be frightened of three men hanging on crosses and a walking mummy.

~ Who ~
No information is given on the writer or illustrator.

~ Wish ~
It would be helpful if the Bible verse references were written at the end of each story.

~ Want ~
If you are looking for a children’s book that includes many rewritten and shortened stories of the life of Jesus with colorful, detailed illustrations and an attached handle, this is a good choice.

Thanks to Book Look Bloggers for this complimentary book that I am freely evaluating.
