RECORD WHEREVER YOU GO
~ What ~
This mini spy security camera kit includes a passive infra-red (PIR) sensor with 6 covert lenses that sense motion up to 25 feet away during the day or night. The small adjustable all-black camera has 120-degree wide angle rotation. There is a slot for a needed micro 32 SD card (not included). The small 2.5 by 1.4 by 1-inch device weighs 9.6 ounces and comes with a USB cable for charging along with a small reset pin and manual.
~ Why ~
Having used security cameras before, I like how minuscule this one is so could be placed anywhere in a room undetected and without wiring. With a 3.5 hour full-charging time, it can record in 1o minute increments up to 4 hours at a time during the day and 1.5 hours at night with a PIR video recording that lasts about a minute. Since no electricity is needed, it can be placed anywhere to record. I also appreciate that is can be plugged in for continuous recording. The pictures were decent with the 1 minute in color and the 10 minute a little more grainy in black and white.
~ Why Not ~
Some may find these units hard to set up as they can be complicated; this one was somewhat simple, but I had a little problem with the three buttons being so small (a ball point pen works). Others may not like that there is no way to view the recordings on their smartphone or computer, as they are only accessible by using a SD card that hooks up to a computer afterward. I had to reset the time on the SD card whenever viewing on my computer and put it back into the camera.
~ Wish ~
I wish there were a way to view the actions via a smartphone, email, or computer but the camera is not made with this feature. With the USB port angled when plugged in, the unit cannot stand alone if it is being continuously charged. It would be helpful if the port were reverted so the camera could stand up and charge at the same time. The instructions are somewhat vague and hard to understand.
~ Want ~
If you are looking for a small security camera to watch in 1 or 10-minute increments, this may work if you want something mobile that can be placed anywhere and viewed later by using a SD card. I have rated it down a point only for its USB port location design because I like to keep it plugged in continually so have to place it on its side, but otherwise it does exactly what it states it can do and would work well for short video recordings.
