PLAY WITH THE ACTIVITY CUBE
~ What ~
Made of colorful plastic, this toy activity center targets toddlers eighteen months or older. Having the measurements of 12-by-12-by-8.5 inches and weighing 1.2 pounds, it has 15 features of activities to engage a small child. Little assembly is required of inserting batteries using a Phillips head screwdriver and adding two bead poles. Instructions are included on the inside of the box. It does not come with the three required AA batteries that light up the round button and provide music and sounds.
~ Why ~
Having several grandbabies visit often, we know they will need toys to keep occupied, especially when staying at our house. I like how this five-sided activity cube has many gadgets that will keep a little one’s attention. The 15 functions include two bead sets, pinball with hammer, buttons with and without lights and sound effects, a doorbell, steering wheel, pretend phone, a microphone, and sliders. The toy offers plenty of fun for a young one as it promotes talking, hearing, hand-eye coordination, and strength control.
~ Why Not ~
Some may not like that this toy makes noise and music, which may be distracting to others. However, the sound could be turned off by removing the batteries; if done, there are no lights or whistles. The songs could become repetitious, but there are over six different ones including “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” “O Susanna,” Dashing Through the Snow,” “If You are Happy and You Know It,” and “When the Saints Come Marching In.”
~ Wish ~
With the toy making loud noises, a shut-off button for the sound only would be ideal. It would be thoughtful if it included the three needed batteries.
~ Want ~
If you are looking an engaging toy that promotes fine motor skills in toddlers who like hands-on activities, this will make a thoughtful gift, especially if you want an interactive toy that has many features.
