LET’S PRETEND TO DRIVE!
~ What ~
Made of colorful plastic, this toy steering wheel targets toddlers eighteen months or older. Having the measurements of 8-by-6-by-8 inches and weighing 9.6 ounces, it does not come with the two required AA batteries that light up the round horn button and provides music and sounds. The wide flexible suction cup on the bottom allows it to be secured to a smooth flat surface. No assembly is required, and instructions are included on the outside of the box.
~ Why ~
Although our grandson is only a month old, we know he will need toys to keep him occupied, especially when in a car. I like how this one has many gadgets that will keep his attention as he mimics his parents’ driving. With an adjustable steering wheel, side mirror, and turning blinker, there is a horn in the middle that plays “Old Macdonald” and “Mary Had a Little Lamb” when pressed. Also on the steering column is a viewing window that moves when the wheel is turned, little horn, ignition switch, and gear box. The toy offers plenty of fun for a young one as it makes beeping, racing, engine ignition, and musical songs.
~ Why Not ~
Some may not like that this toy makes noise, which may distract the driver if it is used in a vehicle. However, the sound could be turned off by removing the batteries; if done, the steering column, review mirror, and turning signal still can rotate. Others may not like that the suction cup has to be placed on a smooth, flat surface. The product is small in dimensions but easy to grip for a child.
~ Wish ~
With the measurements being on the small side, the product would be better if it were twice the size. It would be thoughtful if it included the two needed batteries.
~ Want ~
If you are looking an engaging toy that promotes fine motor skills in toddlers who like hands-on activities, this will make a thoughtful gift, especially if they have an interest in driving a car or truck.
