“Are there signs that forecast the time at which Jesus will come to the earth? Yes!” Dr. John Hart writes in his book, Answers to the Most Important Questions about the End Times.
~ What ~
At one hundred ninety-two pages, this paperback targets those interested in what is considered the end times on Earth and what follows. Beginning with acknowledgments, a dozen chapters cover the topic, ending with the author’s biography and an advertisement. Using mainly the New Living Translation of The Holy Bible, also referenced are the AMP-CE, CEV, ESV, HCSB, NASB, NIV, KJV, NKJV, NET, GNT, CEB, NRSV, and NJB versions.
Many of us wonder what will happen at the end of the world. This play-by-play explanation covers the Rapture, Tribulation, the day of the Lord’s return, Millennium, New Jerusalem, and eternity in Heaven with our Lord. Using Bible verses, it discusses the signs of the end times, the Tribulation, a pre-Tribulation Rapture, the Book of Revelation, the Antichrist, Israel’s role, powerful nations, Armageddon, the second coming of Christ, Millennium, and the final judgment with the new Heaven and Earth. The ending has the eternal plan of salvation.
~ Why ~
Loving to learn about the imminent Rapture of the Church, I appreciate this writer also believes the unannounced event will happen before the start of the Tribulation. He explains viewpoints on Daniel’s seventy weeks, three principles for understanding Revelation, the twenty-one judgments, the Roman Empire II, and six stages to Armageddon to name a few.
~ Why Not ~
Those that do not believe in the Tribulation may pass on this book. Others who think the Rapture happens midway or at the end of the Tribulation may disagree with its contents. Although I am a pre-Trib believer, I am unsure of the writer’s conclusion of Babylon being the physical place that has yet to be rebuilt again.
~ Who ~
A professor of the Bible at Moody Bible Institute, Hart is an author of one other book and contributor to another. He lives in Indiana.
~ Wish ~
I wish all pronouns of God were capitalized for reference. With the book briefly focusing on the Rapture, it did not address questions regarding children under the age of accountability being caught up, if there are second chances for those who have heard the Gospel but refuse it prior to the Rapture, and if everyone on Earth hears the shout of the Lord calling us up. A topical index would be helpful.
~ Want ~
This book is a good introduction to the many aspects of the end times from the Rapture to the thousand year reign and eternity. It would be a useful tool for a new believer seeking an overview of what hopefully begins soon, although I may not be in complete agreement with its contents.
