Live Free: An Adult Coloring BookTitle: Live Free
Author: Margaret Feinberg
Publisher: Bethany House
ISBN: 978-1-523436705

“Discover your creativity as you express your love for God and the Bible,” Margaret Feinberg suggests at the beginning of her coloring book, Live Free: Craft God’s Word in Your Heart Through Creative Expression.

~ What ~
This forty-eight-page oversize paperback targets those who love to spend time relieving stress by spending time with God and coloring. Using the NIV, NLT, MSG, NASB, NKJV, GW, RSV, HCSB, and the Voice of the Holy Bible, it is a collection of black and white drawings to color along with Scripture verses and journaling.

This book contains twenty illustrations of mainly floral, geometric, and insect designs that are on the right side of the page with a written out Bible verse incorporated into it. On the opposite page, the verse is written out again with dotted lines to fill out regarding how the writer feels in relationship to God. Using roses, butterflies, dragonflies, sheep, doves, balloons, cherries, pumpkins, snowflakes, leaves, and a peacock, the line-drawings can be filled in by the artist as they concentrate on God’s Word.

~ Why ~
With a degree in art, I appreciate the fanciful drawings with their details and charm. It is nice to open the pages, read the verse several times, write thoughts, and creatively fill in the spaces to make a colorful design. I like that the book focuses on God.

~ Why Not ~
Some that are not artistic may think this book would not work for them, but they might want to reconsider as the lines are all drawn out, so all one needs to do is pick up a colored pen or pencil and fill in the sections. Some like me may have trouble with the font in the pictures as it is hard to decipher. I also thought some of the spaces were so small they may be impossible to fill in with a sharp pen or pencil.

~ Who ~
Bible teacher and speaker, Feinberg is an author of several Christian books that have sold over one million copies. She lives with her husband and dog in Colorado.

~ Wish ~
I wish the font was readable on the drawings as I had trouble reading it unless I referred to the printed out prior page.

~ Want ~
If you are looking for an adult coloring book that is also a devotional with Bible verses, this may be an option. Unfortunately, I would pass on it due to the hard-to-read fancy font used.
